General Surgeon
Matt is a broadly experienced general surgeon, passionate about quality, training and assessment. He holds an ongoing role at Middlemore Hospital on the elective and emergency general surgery service, which complements his private practice.
Matt is an active teacher with an honorary Associate Professorship at the University of Auckland, and spent four years as Chief Medical Officer for Southern Cross Healthcare. He was Chief Examiner in General Surgery for RACS New Zealand after nine years on the Court of Examiners, and now serves as a Councillor for the College of Surgeons.
Matt is approachable and non-judgemental, an ally to the LGBTI+ community and a proponent for equity in Aotearoa. He is happy to provide second opinions on all aspects of surgery.
